People lose things. It’s a fact of life and we designed ChronicKey not only with high-grade security in mind, but also knowing that people will be people. That’s where the Recovery Certificate comes in.
    We’ve all had the unfortunate experience of losing our files due to accidental deletion or simply loosing the disk that they were stored on. Basing this software on the fact that people rarely lose their computer, we designed the recovery certificate, which allows files stored on the ChronicKey Storage to be accessed without the accompanying ChronicKey. Upon creation of a ChronicKey Storage, you’re given the option (and it’s highly recommended) that you create a recovery certificate. It’s simply a file, so your ChronicKey Storage is only as safe as the location you choose to store this file. We recommend storing it on a disk and hiding it under a rock far, far away.
